Sweater and Moth Hole Repair
In this 2-hour, hand sewing class, you will learn basic techniques to repair your favorite knits that have tiny holes and snagged bits. We will learn to cover small holes with satin stitch, bring together long tears with fishtail darning, blended knit repair and latch hook darning. We will discuss sweater care and best practices along the way.
This class is good for anyone who wants to learn these skills.
All materials are included.
Please note: if you think any of your wool items have damage from moths (i.e. moth holes), you will need to place them in a ziplock bag and put them in your freezer for a minimum of 72 hours before bringing them in. This usually happens to sweaters, scarves and other items that are made of natural fibers like wool and alpaca. You will not often see actual moths — just the holes they have left. Please keep your items in the ziplocks until class starts. This stops them from snacking and protects everyone else’s garments — it is extremely important to keep the studio moth-free.
Our studio is located at 401 N 23rd St. in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond, VA. There is typically ample street parking within a block or two.
This class needs at least 2 people to run so sign up with a friend or share on social media to help spread the word. If the class doesn’t reach its minimum capacity, we will notify you 2 days in advance and issue a refund for your payment.
